While 2020 was not the year anyone could have ever imagined I thought I would write down some thoughts, if for no other reason than, to remind myself what this year brought.

A year of deep sadness and unspeakable national crisis that affected every person in such tremendous ways. There is no way to overlook or forget this difficult time and as I sit and reminisce, I am reminded of the love and support given by strangers. I went from a time when it was normal to walk by someone and avoid eye contact to now wishing they could see my smile under my mask, hoping it brings relief to their day, which will bring some to mine.

Among the dark and scary times, we were graced with moments of light. A reminder so nestled in the dark we really needed to look to find that sliver of hope so it would remind us to push forward. A time when the smallest gesture made all the difference to keep going and embrace tomorrow and all it brings. Quite humbling.

Who knew the ultimate win would be finding the last package of toilet paper on the shelf, sitting there like it had been stocked just for you. Pushing yourself to embrace your self-fortitude and strength to find happiness, or at least peace, to make that a successful day. These moments weren’t daily but when gifted one, damn, did it make a difference.

I leave this year, while not forgetting the personal struggle that has been brought to so many, with a sense of self assurance and strength. With a taste for betterment and patience. An understanding that I cannot and will not control the world around me so best to travel through it with grace and positivity. This is my hope anyway. I hope that my gratitude for small moments and silver linings carry through in the years to come.

As always, the people in our lives make such a difference, through tough and happy moments all the same. My year at F.H. Perry Builder would not have been what it was without the partnership and support of our team, clients, trades, architects, designers and friends. I know we would not be able to stand now with such a strong foundation without you by our side.

I look forward to 2021 with an open heart and open eyes and will try to gracefully accept the unknowns to come.

Sending warm wishes of health and wellness for 2021!

Happy Holidays!
