The first step wasn’t to change the home, but to understand it. It was a house shaped over time, ready to be brought back into alignment.
Over generations of change, the structure had become inconsistent, with irregular framing, shifting floor levels, and spaces that no longer worked together. Our role was to understand how the home had come together and make sense of it. Through targeted structural intervention and reinforcement of the existing structure, we were able to properly support the home and open the main level to create a more natural, connected flow.
That work carried throughout the house. The garden level was reconfigured to support daily use, and the existing staircase was refined and reinforced from within rather than replaced, stabilizing it while preserving its character. Each decision was made with intention, guided by clear communication and a shared understanding of what the home truly needed. The stair now draws light down through the home, creating a clearer connection from one level to the next.
For a young, active family, the goal was to bring clarity to the layout and shape a home that works as it should, grounded in how they live each day.
