We live in Massachusetts, therefore you are aware what a tease this week is.

It always happens around this time of year, a few warmer days arrive and suddenly it feels like spring has arrived early. The snow melts, the air softens, and we can feel the sunshine on our faces.

We immediately begin thinking about being outside again.

Spoiler alert, New England has a sense of humor, and there’s still more winter weather ahead before the season truly turns.

While this “fake spring” may be a tease, it’s actually the perfect time to start planning and preparing for the exterior projects that help your home recover from winter and get ready for the warmer months ahead. Early planning allows us to schedule work thoughtfully and address any issues caused by snow, ice, and fluctuating temperatures.

Spring Exterior Projects to Consider

Winter can be tough on even the most well-built homes. Spring is an ideal time to inspect, repair, and refresh key exterior elements:

Roof & Drainage

  • Roof inspections and minor repairs from winter wear
  • Gutter cleaning, repair, or full replacement
  • Downspout adjustments and drainage improvements
  • Ice dam damage repairs

Exterior Maintenance

  • Brick, shingle, siding inspections and repairs
  • Trim and exterior paint touch-ups
  • Window and door seal inspections to prevent moisture intrusion
  • Chimney and flashing checks

Landscape & Grounds Recovery

  • Repairing lawn and garden areas affected by snow piles and salt
  • Restoring planting beds and edging
  • Hardscape inspections for patios, walkways, and retaining walls
  • Early landscape planning and design

Outdoor Living Preparation

  • Deck and porch inspections, repairs, and refinishing
  • Outdoor lighting checks and upgrades
  • Preparation for outdoor kitchens or gathering spaces

Even though winter isn’t quite finished with us yet, this brief stretch of mild weather and melted snow gives us the opportunity to assess and plan so that once true spring arrives, your home is ready to move forward with the work.

If there are exterior projects you’ve been thinking about, whether small repairs or larger improvements, we would be happy to walk through ideas with you and begin preparing a plan for the season ahead.

Let’s connect so your home is the first on our list for Spring repairs.

“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be the happiest.”
