A Harvard Square Antique

← Back to Projects

This jewel of a house needed a little more breathing room. Though the existing house is antique and gem-like in nature, the flow-through addition lent itself to a more modern aesthetic.

Focusing on the master suite second floor addition over the jewel box music room below we snaked wires and plumbing to create a bedroom sleeping area that leads through one door to his dressing and bath room and through another on the opposite side to achieve the same for her. Both were again connected opposite the bedroom by a walk-in shower.

We paid special attention to seamlessly connecting old and new, highlighted by an ornate but gentle library on the second floor and a functional and useful mudroom on the first.

The result? A very private suite off the rear of the house, complete with a new deck and spiral stair to the garden below.
