Il y a un vieil entrep\u00f4t en acier qui se trouve sur l\u2019\u00e9paule de la bretelle d\u2019acc\u00e8s 495 North \u00e0 Hopkinton, dans le Massachusetts, qui a sto\u00efquement d\u00e9tenu FH Perry Builder au cours des vingt derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Je connais l\u2019endroit o\u00f9 le verre refl\u00e8te le bureau \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du mien et je peux avoir une conversation \u00ab face \u00e0 face \u00bb avec Angela sans que l\u2019un ou l\u2019autre d\u2019entre nous ne se l\u00e8ve de nos bureaux. Et pourtant, je ne connaissais pas vraiment l\u2019une de ces intimit\u00e9s que j\u2019avais cr\u00e9\u00e9es avec l\u2019espace jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que le battement de la serrure jet\u00e9e sur le montant de la porte en aluminium r\u00e9sonne diff\u00e9remment cette fois-ci. Pas de meubles pour rebondir. Pas de piles de papier pour l\u2019absorber. Aucun bourdonnement de serveur pour le dominer. Les d\u00e9m\u00e9nageurs avaient emport\u00e9 tout cela avec eux sur leurs chariots. Vingt ans ont disparu \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re d\u2019une camionnette de d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement et se sont enfuis sans c\u00e9r\u00e9monie dans son avenir, pour l\u2019instant, inconnu et courageux.<\/p>\n

Aucun probl\u00e8me. C\u2019est ce que nous voulions! Parce que nous avons, en fait, chang\u00e9. Nous devenons quelque chose de nouveau. Et lorsque vous devenez quelque chose de nouveau \u00e0 partir de quelque chose de vieux, il est pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de ne pas \u00eatre attach\u00e9 \u00e0 taupe. Nous cherchons de nouveaux murs – ou peut-\u00eatre pas de murs du tout. Nous avons soif d\u2019inspiration qui nous rappelle notre m\u00e9tier et notre but en tant qu\u2019intendants. Nous croyons en notre communaut\u00e9 et, le moment venu, nous trouverons un nouvel espace qui enrichira la vie de tous ceux qui viennent nous rendre visite. Nous sommes pr\u00eats \u00e0 raconter notre histoire plut\u00f4t que de la faire raconter. Et pourtant… Je dois jeter cette serrure une derni\u00e8re fois et l\u00e2cher prise.<\/p>\n

La vie est cens\u00e9e \u00eatre pleine de ces transitions. Dieu merci, car c\u2019est ce qui nous permet de rester en affaires! Cette fois-ci, j\u2019aurais seulement aim\u00e9 permettre plus de rituel. Un peu de fermeture et de c\u00e9l\u00e9bration au lieu de me retrouver seul \u00e0 trier une poign\u00e9e de cl\u00e9s dans un espace vide \u00e0 la fin des affaires le dernier jour du mois. J\u2019ai fait une promenade lente et j\u2019ai laiss\u00e9 les souvenirs m\u2019envahir pendant quelques minutes. Cela semblait juste.<\/p>\n

J\u2019imagine que nos clients doivent passer par l\u00e0 dans une certaine mesure. Une conclusion que ce qui sera est tellement mieux que ce qui est. Cette sagesse remplace la fantaisie et cette bizarrerie n\u2019est plus \u00ab douce \u00bb. J\u2019ai compris. Et je comprends qu\u2019il pourrait aussi y avoir un moment de calme entre ce qui \u00e9tait et ce qui sera. Un moment o\u00f9 vous r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissez \u00e0 l\u2019intimit\u00e9 que vous avez partag\u00e9e avec cet espace autrefois d\u00e9terminant. Parce que, en fait, tout espace qui retient les humains contient de la rage et de la peur, de la tristesse et du chagrin, une joie sans limites, des rires et des sourires profonds, de l\u2019amour secret, de la jalousie, de l\u2019admiration. Des histoires sur des histoires de devenir quelqu\u2019un. Un espace qui fait cela pendant si longtemps n\u2019est pas facile \u00e0 l\u00e2cher, m\u00eame quand il est plus que temps.<\/p>\n

Et donc, puisque le travail de ma vie est de vous rencontrer en transition, faites-moi savoir si je peux vous aider avec un rituel avant que nous ne commencions r\u00e9ellement la d\u00e9mo. Prenez-le lentement. Faire ses adieux. Nous tiendrons votre avenir avec soin et promesse.
